The Sixth Hammer crushed it at Plovdiv Game Jam 2024 - one of Bulgaria’s top game development events started with the talk “Isometric 2D Art in 3D Space” by Yasen Bagalev, co-founder and lead programmer at The Sixth Hammer, and Miroslav Dimitrov, the studio’s art director. The duo showed a variety of combinations of 2D isometric art with 3D environments in Unity, with a very how-to approach.
The mentor for all Jam participants was Victor Dosev, Associate Game Director at Creative Assembly Sofia. Creative Assembly is one of the key sponsors of the event, and their dedication was double downed by Victor’s session “Game Design for Beginners and Game Jam Tips and Tricks”.
Ivan Paunov, known for his work on Moo Lander at The Sixth Hammer, spoke about the hardships and challenges of indie game development. His talk “Fairy Tales Autochess - Game Industry Insights” shared his journey in the business side of things.
The logistics behind the smooth experience was handled by The Sixth Hammer members and a team of dedicated volunteers who worked closely with them. All game devs can enjoy the talks streamed on Twitch and YouTube.
Plovdiv Game Jam is one of the biggest gaming events in Bulgaria as part of the Global Game Jam. Over a single weekend teams of enthusiasts join up with professionals to build a digital or a board game. The Jam offers free entry, mentoring, and a “mad scientist lab” for experimentation. For professionals it’s a chance to test out ideas and welcome the next generation.
Plovdiv Game Jam is brought to you thanks to dedicated volunteers and studios like The Sixth Hammer, Creative Assembly and Haemimont Games.
