The largest state university in Southern Bulgaria, the University of Plovdiv "Paisii Hilendarski", is known for its wide range of disciplines and its academic practices. The institution is renowned for its history and continued development in the present. Its international projects paved the way for countless students.
In 2024, the campus was buzzing about an unusual guest arriving.
Dimitar Popov, one of The Sixth Hammer co-founders, was invited by University professors to give guest lectures on game design and Unity programming. It wasn’t some dry PowerPoint parade; the man rolled up his sleeves and shared field-tested techniques we use every day at The Sixth Hammer. With more than ten years of experience in game development, he showed how tiny mechanics in a game can turn into a full experience.
Dimitar presented his approach to challenges and creativity in his work for The Sixth Hammer. The students got involved from the get-go. Getting their hands dirty, they participated in prototyping a game throughout the lectures and exercises. They were able to apply theoretical knowledge in practice immediately.
For Plovdiv University, opening the doors to proven professionals was a great step towards better education. As for the Hammers, it was an amazing opportunity to ignite a fire in the game development anvils of the future.
